Some big names in the Tour de France like Alberto Contador will not join to compete in the famous San Sebastian Classic, a top UCI Pro a tour one-day event which was set to take place last Saturday in the northern part of Spain. Clasica San Sebastian has started in 1981 every summer; a traditional cycle climber’s race with it own set of heroes and grand tours over the 25 year history.

The 237 kilometer was transversed by 188 riders with 19 competing teams which started and ended in the Basque City. Oscar Freire and Allan Davies and Cadel Evans, the tour de France 2008 winner wass already on the list of riders that participated in the said event that happened this coming Saturday.

The cycle race in San Sebastian is popular for its stunning views of the coastline and its undulating and winding terrain which is very liked by experienced, adventurous and aggressive riders.

Carlos Barredo of spain was triumphant by winning the race last Saturday and surprised the crowds favorite and bet; Barredo is just a print away from /Czech rider named Roman Kreuziger. Alejandro Valverde who missed the Tour de France finished in the 17th place. Barredo’s strategic attacks on the last two hills had gained an advantage over most of the riders and at last finished the race as a champion taking in consideration that several riders where seconds away from him.

In the last 5 kilometers the other riders were not able to respond that made Barredo and Kreuziger to lead the race. The turns of the Clasica San Sebastian were dangerous and he just took the risk and won the race.

Ryder Hesjedal also joined and finished the Tour de France and decided to make it to the San Sebastian event before enjoying the well-deserved vacation after hard work and hard preparation.

Riders, spectators, visitors, guest and tourist had a great one summer Saturday event and evening with Clasica San Sebastian and will definitely enjoy most of then places of attraction San Sebastian.

San Sebastian is indeed a world class niche for professional surfers. Now its latest feather in the cap was hosting the Van Pro Junior in its surfer loved waves and beaches; surfers all over Europe strut to San Sebastian to catch the league’s top awards and prizes.

Vans Pro Junior is an organization for the professional surfers in Europe and it strike its first of their four Europe tour in San Sebastian. The Vans Pro Junior launched their vital ASP Junior leg for the summer in Europe which will end in August 24, 2008.

The surfers dancing with the waves were such a splendid sight to behold. One would be tempted to try surfing which is no easy task. As the surfers slice their way through the waves with fancy graceful moves; the audiences couldn’t help but say “ahh! Wow!” and clap their way to show appreciation and admiration for such tricky, wonderful moves of the surfers.

One crowd favorite is the French contender Marc Lacomare. This player just one sure gets the crowds clapping in delight as he gave his wonderful moves. Lacomare just hit the highest prize on this event. He had several good points as the event progresses.

The Van Pro Junior is such a successful event in San Sebastian. A very good sighting in one of world’s best surfing hub!
