The sea scent and sea gull calls. The strong winds that knock on my windows. Those where vivid memories that I have of San Sebastian and that was 30 years ago. And 30 years has been a long time. So many things had changed. But the memories and the mystery that lies behind the beauty of San Sebastian never faded even a bit. This time I intend to to savor all the changes and reminisce the memories and the dreams that I had built along with the sand castles and he waves that manages to splash out all those magnificent castle I made with my bare hands.

Barrio de la Marina is a town most remember because of the daily walks and and the people that lives within it. But now, it has transformed into a new being but time has not diminished it attraction, smell and characteristic. The strong characteristic of the city still remains. Though it has received a make over… their still lies that proof of the past that can never be vanished… I hope.

Were the memories of a sleeping place still exist? Yes at the deep recesses of the mountains there still exists a remnant of ones a quiet place that only the waves beckons the passes by to take notice of him. But now San Sebastian car hire has made the travel easier and so short. Though, I see no difference in terms of time and transportation but only of attitude.

Some San Sebastian architecture has remained the same and in fact a legacy o the city. These were architecture that had out lived their creator and builder. Palacio d Miramar with it beautiful facade has so many stories of love, war, pain, hatred, compassion and kindness. If only you know if you only you asks.

All you need to do is arrive safe and sound in the city and you will know your way. That is if you know how to ask direction in the Spanish language. The tourism in San Sebastian is very progressive yet the people are loyal to their Basque language. Don’t get me wrong, this Basque city is the melting pot of all language though the locals may speak only their language that is the exact opposite of the guest travelers in this land of surfing. Someone jested that San Sebastian travel can also be considered as a language travel.

It is quite amazing and surprisingly delightful to hear different languages spoken within hearing vicinity. Sometimes whenyou stand on a bar ordering your tapa; you will just hear somebody suddenly speak in German, French, Italian, Polish, Swedish and of course the English language. One time, I was just strolling around with no specific direction when suddenly I hear a couple talking on a unique language foreign to my ears heading to their hotel San Sebastian. I looked for a travel map on their hands but found none. They are comfortably talking and enjoying the place.

Yes, San Sebastian is exactly just that… being comfortable…full…beautiful…happy.

I do not need to rush and all the people sharing my place to enjoy a holiday. I only need the sand, soft blowing of the air and a good cheap san sebastian restaurant and a place to go after all the strolling and activities during the day. I mean a cheap good hotel san sebastian to go home to. And a good working camera to complete my travel to San Sebastian. To take pictures of the san castles and sculptures I made in my travel.

Good food. Good surroundings. Good activities. Good hotel accommodation. Good sun. Good weather. Everything I need for an active and satiating San Sebastian Holiday is already in this Basque country.

Do I need to elaborate more on why the city is best for me?

Though, the city has so much on its sleeve to make one traveler happy. San Sebastian International Film Festival alone can make the world news limelight turn its light to this ‘Surf Capital’ of Spain. the festival can make the world stop as I overheard passengers on a plane going to the festival and yes I went to the festival yearly. I was never absent for 5 consecutive years now. And this year’s festival did not disappoint me. Yearly, as I step on San Sebastian soil, it is like renewal of adoration to the place and it was returned with a grand gesture.

Playa de la concha San Sebastian is enough to make a good holiday. Actually I had visited most if not all (well perhaps there are still hidden gems that I do not know of) of San Sebastian. I had been to many parks and sites yet I just love the Aquarium in this city. I feel like an undersea creature standing to all the beautiful bounty that is being offered. I had fun pointing all the creatures I know. Of telling my grand children their importance in the Biome, of telling the creatures characteristic and lifestyle. the difference and similarities they have with the human beings.

Another travel destination is Barrio de la Marina. The oldest town in San Sebastian will enlighten the curiosity in you. Whatever is left of the town is enough to quench your thirst for culture. It made me smile just thinking of this lovely town. The easy walks and talk that I had with my children and their children is a memory that I would always cherish whenever I visit this town yearly.

San Sebastian is always a revelation to me.

Great sceneries, incredible landscapes, white glimmering beaches and comfortable accommodation. It is a home of many tourists all over the world. The best place as well to relax or unwind, just like the other cities of Spain San Sebastian is unique it has something different compared to the other cities of Spain. The place is an expensive destination due to its luxurious sightseeing; ironically it only offers cheap itineraries, cuisines and accommodation that everybody can afford. Due to this, every year this fascinating San Sebastian city is covered with different tourists.

On the other hand, these are the best places to visit in San Sebastian

Incredible panoramic sceneries

As mentioned above one of the must see places in San Sebastian are its parts where it is abounded with fascinating views. It is a great place to view the amusement park and the bay. And never forget to visit Palacio de Miramar—known as an English style mansion. It offers great view of gardens and overlooking beach.

White beaches

The beach of Playa de la Concha is the largest and most popular beaches among the two. It is a free beach resort where it is more crowded compare to the other two beaches. A popular spot for the tourist to get a tan and frolic in the sea waters and sand.

La Playa de la Concha, though it is La Concha to the English speaking community, is situated in the famous Bay of La Concha de San Sebastian. The sand quality is substrate and usually the tide decides what fraction of the surface of the sand can be used by the beach combers. Still this lace tops the tourist’s itinerary list. This place is a perfect epitome of San Sebastian culture, both adventurous and tame. Imagine yourself sunbathing while appreciating the architecture right beside you.

To the International community it is called Aquarium of San Sebastian but to the Spanish speaking community, Museo Oceanografico is a splendid tourist magnet. The oceanarium boosts of a 360 degreed view of the aquarium without the oxygen tank… of course a tunnel that shows the water life forms as if they are living on their own natural habitat. Hundreds of marine species are being taken cared off in this oceanarium from the seas flora and fauna.

San Sebastian architecture from the Cathedral to its cobblestone architecture is also a must-see sight. San Sebastian has experience history’s harshness and was burned several time yet, miracles of miracle San Sebastian Cathedral remain to be the only one left after the decades of savagery. The Cathedral only spearheaded the magnificence of its San Sebastian architecture legacy. The intricate design that is a character of almost all the building and art is a beauty to see.

The splendor that is San Sebastian will always remain etched in the memory of the tourist that experiences its hospitality. From the very Spanish atmosphere to the pintxos bar that welcomes each and everyone warmly.

These three destinations or architecture are only a glimpse of the loveliness of San Sebastian. They are the some of the best in San Sebastian.

Its capital is Guipuzcoa, which is a highly cultivated and cultural cosmopolitan city. Overall, the metro city is fascinating and stirring. In San Sebastian one can set his eyes on a lot of stunning beaches and seas, verdant hills, interesting history evident in its lifestyle, buildings and monuments that are all blended well with the city’s cosmopolitan backdrop. The combination of both classic and modern makeup contributed much to the charm of the city. It is amazing how one can just talk a walk to and from an Old Quarter to the more modern boulevards, houses and abodes. And because the town is close to the French border it is influenced by it in some manner, in fact some buildings and streets are so designed in conformity to some of French architecture. There are countless reasons why San Sebastian is considered a summer capital of the country and a party hub suitable for the summers. During summertime the town is overrun by locals, visitors and guests who find their own places therein to chill and relax along the sandy beaches of the town. The town’s coastline presents a captivating paradise for those looking for an experience that is something different for a given holiday. Anyway, one should know that Donostia is San Sebastian named in its local language. The famous La Concha beach is one of the many you should pay a visit to or rather treat yourself for. Overall, the town is tendered a dramatic panorama from the mountains, and a beautiful beachfront walkway with a shopping area at its end. If you can imagine it, this place is just distinctive, great and impressive.

And when the night is due, it is just one of the greatest catches of all and you can shake your night out away. San Sebastian is a party city indeed for a lot of reasons and the best thing is that it is experienced remarkably one of a kind. You can take your pick among the classes of nightclubs and disco bars. You can do all these not only in the city streets where parties are normally found elsewhere, but more ensnaring in the beaches and resort clubs. Tourists and visitors come to San Sebastian for a different kind of catch.
