San Sebastian is a relatively small city to move around in and perhaps the best option for sightseeing is to walk. However, in case one has decided to move around in wheels, the city offers a selection of public transportation.
Taxis
The taxi is the most efficient and practical way to travel when you are in a hurry. There is a standard flag down rate and a corresponding rate will follow depending upon the place and the time covered. Taxi meters indicate rates of distance traveled and tariffs are available publicly for customer consultation.
Buses
Buses are clean and efficient and the fare costs less than 1 euro for one way ticket. Bus stops can be found in the downtown area and links it way to the different parts of San Sebastian and its rural areas.
Train
Traveling by train is another way to move about the city and outside the district to other major cities of Spain and France.
When travelling throughout Europe, we’d recommend that you look into alternative travel services to flights in order to give yourself maximum flexibility (and maximum spending money!). Euro Trains are a great option when thinking in this direction - one which many of the well travelled choose to use!
Rent a car
There are a few groups that offer rent a car services in San Sebastian. This mode of moving around in the city proper and its premises offer a more private perspective on the sights and sounds of San Sebastian.
Your journey to San Sebastián
Of course, you can only take advantage of San Sebastian’s great transport system once you’ve made it to the city itself! The flights to San Sebastian are relatively cheap but, depending on where you are flying from, they are perhaps not as frequent as the flights to the more popular tourist regions (the vuelos Mallorca for example). Nevertheless, you shouldn’t come across major trouble booking your trip, the flight consolidators offer great competitive prices which are there to be taken advantage of!
Bearing in mind the beautiful scenery of San Sebastian, have you ever thought of taking a road trip here? It is a cheaper option and if you have the time to spare, you’ll definitely get a great experience of Spanish culture (and of course their cuisine; stopping along the way for breaks you’ll taste some of the best marisco food of your life!).
Another “alternative” option would be to look at train journeys – doing this and investing in a flexible option rail pass, you could also take the opportunity to explore other parts of Spain, enjoying your holiday to the maximum!
